Chilka Lake

Chilika Lake is the largest brackish water lake with estuarine character that sprawls along the east coast of India. The lake has several islands and form important habitat for the birds and animals. It is also the largest wintering ground for migratory birds on the Indian sub-continent and supports some of the largest congregation of migratory birds from large parts of Asia. Small boats are available for rent and can go through all the permitted areas for birding and photography. It is in the state of Odisha in eastern India. The main season is from December to March. I was handholding the camera with 500mm with 2x TC. Suddenly I saw a marsh harrier snatching the snake from an Ibis beak. It was quite difficult to track with 1000mm focal range. I managed to capture two to three frames in focus.
